Speaker Obasa’s Son Now Confirmed Agege Council Chairman
The 10th Assembly of the Agege Legislative Council has confirmed AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa as the new substantive Chairman of the Council, following the resignation of the former Chairman, Tunde Azeez (popularly known as Disco).
AbdulGaniyu Obasa previously served as the Vice Chairman and is the son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.
Azeez tendered his resignation citing health grounds due to ongoing medical challenges that impaired his ability to fulfill his duties. In a plenary session at the Council Chamber, members of the Assembly unanimously praised Azeez for his dedication and leadership while wishing him a full recovery.
The newly confirmed Chairman, AbdulGaniyu Obasa, pledged in his acceptance remarks to consolidate ongoing initiatives and deepen collaboration with stakeholders to promote community development and improve service delivery across Agege.
The lawmakers used the session to conduct a strategic review of the council’s committee structure and oversight operations. They emphasized the need to enhance transparency, accountability, and effective monitoring of developmental projects within the local government area.
The Council collectively resolved to build on existing achievements and ensure the delivery of development-focused, people-oriented governance under the new leadership framework.
