DSS Axes 115 Officers, Warns Public Against Impostors

The Department of State Services (DSS) has terminated the employment of 115 officers as part of its ongoing internal reforms and has cautioned Nigerians to avoid dealing with anyone falsely claiming to be a serving member of the agency.

In a statement shared via its official X handle on Tuesday, the DSS explained that the dismissals were carried out over a period as part of efforts to strengthen discipline and integrity within the organisation.

“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the statement read in part.

The secret police also drew attention to previous public warnings disowning certain individuals identified as Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who were reportedly using the DSS name to defraud unsuspecting citizens.

“Some of the dismissed personnel are still posing as DSS operatives to deceive members of the public. Nigerians are therefore advised to desist from any official dealings with these individuals,” the agency stated.

The DSS further announced that the names of all affected officers have been made available on its official website for public verification.

“For the sake of clarity, the identities of the dismissed personnel have been published on the website of the Service.”

The Service reiterated its commitment to professionalism and accountability, assuring the public that it would continue to rid the organisation of any individuals found guilty of misconduct or acts capable of tarnishing its image.
