Traffic Diversions for Lagos Tour de Nigeria Cycling Race

The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and movement adjustments in parts of the city ahead of the Cycology X Itel Tour de Nigeria Cycling Race, scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 2, 2025, between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, in a post shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday.

According to Osiyemi, the 60-kilometre national cycling event will commence at Dolphin Loop, proceed through Osborne Road, Ring Road, Third Mainland Bridge, Iyana Oworo, Gbagada Expressway, Oshodi Oke, and MMIA Underbridge (U-turn point), before concluding at Dolphin Estate.

To ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the event, the commissioner advised motorists from Ikeja heading to Victoria Island to use Ikorodu Road, connect through Funsho Williams Avenue, and link Eko Bridge.

Similarly, those travelling from Mowe or along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway are advised to divert through Ojota Slip Road to Ikorodu Road, then proceed via Funsho Williams Avenue to Eko Bridge for onward movement.

Osiyemi clarified that the Third Mainland Bridge will remain open, but traffic movement will be controlled and managed to accommodate the cyclists.

“All side roads will be opened intermittently as the race progresses to minimize disruptions,” he stated.

The commissioner added that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and Nigeria Police will be strategically deployed along the race route to manage vehicular movement and guarantee public safety throughout the event. “No road will be completely closed. Vehicles will be allowed to move periodically to ensure that both motorists and cyclists experience minimal inconvenience,” Osiyemi assured.

He urged residents to plan their trips early, use alternative routes, and exercise patience during the temporary diversions.

The Cycology X Itel Tour de Nigeria Cycling Race is one of the country’s leading national-level sporting events, aimed at promoting fitness, tourism, and road safety awareness. The 60km race will feature top professional and amateur cyclists navigating key highways and landmarks across Lagos, including the iconic Third Mainland Bridge.

The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to supporting sports development and ensuring that major public events are conducted safely and efficiently for both participants and commuters.
