Public Poll: How Seyi Tinubu Is Empowering His Father’s Enemies
by Muhammad Goma
For some days now, social media has been buzzing with anger and frustration from young Nigerians, especially members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Many of them feel betrayed and disappointed. Their pain comes from one simple truth: Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, seems to be empowering the very people who fought against his father’s rise to power.
Let’s be honest. Every privilege Seyi Tinubu enjoys today is a direct result of his father’s name and hard work. From his connections with governors and presidents to the opportunities that helped his advertising firm grow, everything came through his father’s political influence and legacy. But instead of building on that foundation and empowering loyal party members who stood by his father, Seyi has earned a growing reputation for favoring the opposition those who openly mocked the APC and insulted the President during and after the elections.
Many APC loyalists now ask: Why should those who opposed the party be the ones enjoying the rewards of victory? These same people once swore that Tinubu would never become president, yet today, they boast about how close they are to his son. It is not just confusing it is insulting to those who spent years defending the Tinubu name and ensuring the party’s victory.
One incident that truly angered the faithful was during Seyi Tinubu’s recent birthday. The APC loyalists in Lagos, people who have always stood with his father, organized a party in his honour. They expected him to show appreciation and solidarity. But he didn’t show up. Instead, he attended a separate celebration hosted by businessmen like Obi Cubana and E-Money individuals widely linked to circles that did not support the APC. That single act sent a strong and painful message: loyalty, it seems, no longer matters.
Adding to the frustration, Seyi Tinubu was also the one who introduced Cubana Chief Priest and Davido to President Tinubu, an action that triggered heavy mockery from Obidient supporters on social media. Many APC youths saw that as an unnecessary move that gave the opposition fresh ammunition to ridicule both the president and his supporters. They felt that Seyi was once again giving his father’s critics a reason to laugh at those who worked tirelessly to bring this government to power.
Now, the same individuals being empowered by Seyi are the loudest voices celebrating Donald Trump’s recent comments aimed at destabilizing Nigeria’s image. They see his rise as an opportunity to attack Tinubu’s government. Ironically, those being strengthened by Seyi’s generosity are the ones cheering for forces working against his father’s leadership.
Every contract Seyi approves, every connection he builds, appears to benefit people who neither respect his father nor believe in his leadership. They surround him, smiling and pretending to be friends, but only because he is the President’s son. They see him as a gateway to power and wealth, not as a person they genuinely value or support.
Seyi Tinubu needs to understand the weight of his position. His actions reflect directly on his father and on the legacy his family is trying to protect. If he continues to empower those who despise the APC and everything it stands for, he will only weaken the very structure that brought his father to where he is today.
Politics is not just about friendship or business it is about loyalty, strategy, and legacy. Seyi must begin to recognize those who stood with his father when others turned their backs. These are the people who deserve to be empowered, not those who are now pretending to care simply because of his influence.
It is not too late for Seyi Tinubu to change direction. He must learn to listen, observe, and take guidance from those who understand political loyalty. If he fails to do so, he risks becoming the weak link in his father’s success story.
Empowering one’s father’s enemies is not a sign of maturity or fairness it is a dangerous game that could cost both family and legacy dearly. Seyi Tinubu must choose wisely before admiration turns to resentment among those who once stood firmly by his father’s side.
