More Attacks Against Hezbollah in South Lebanon Coming, Israel Warns

Israel has warned that its military operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon will intensify, raising fears of a broader regional escalation.

The warning, issued on Sunday, came after renewed rocket and drone attacks from Hezbollah targeted civilian areas in northern Israel.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said it would “deepen its strikes” against the Iran-backed militant group in response.

According to the IDF, Israeli forces have already hit multiple Hezbollah sites, including observation posts, weapons storage facilities, and launch positions.

The army added that Hezbollah’s actions were “endangering Lebanese civilians” and drawing the country closer to a wider conflict.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant reiterated the country’s stance, saying, “We will not tolerate continued aggression from Hezbollah. They are dragging Lebanon into a confrontation that will serve no one’s interest.”

Hezbollah, for its part, claimed responsibility for several of the recent cross-border attacks, describing them as retaliation for Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon.

The exchanges have forced thousands of residents on both sides of the border to flee their homes since hostilities began in 2023.

Lebanese officials and international observers have urged both sides to exercise restraint.

The United Nations has called for respect of Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war and established a buffer zone along the border.

Tensions remain high as Israel vows to expand its campaign against Hezbollah positions, heightening concerns of a new all-out war in the region.
