PDP Axes Key Officials, Deepening Crisis Following Court Order

The internal conflict within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) intensified on Saturday as the National Working Committee (NWC) announced the one-month suspension of several top officials, including National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu. These officials are widely considered allies of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.

National Publicity Secretary Hon. Debo Ologunagba confirmed the suspensions after a lengthy NWC meeting at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

The officials suspended for one month and referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee include:

* Senator Samuel Anyanwu (National Secretary)

* Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN (National Legal Adviser)

* Umar Bature (National Organizing Secretary)

* Okechukwu Osuoha (Deputy National Legal Adviser)

The move is seen as the party acting against members of the Wike camp, some of whom were reportedly absent from party meetings recently.

The mass suspension comes just a day after a Federal High Court in Abuja directed the PDP to halt its planned national convention, which was scheduled for November 15-16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State. Disagreement over the convention’s conduct is noted as one of the factors that led to the court challenge.

Despite the court order, the PDP has publicly vowed to appeal the judgment while stating its preparations for the convention will continue.
