Zamfara Dekivers ₦140 Billion Projects Across 14 Council Areas

The Zamfara State Government has revealed that projects valued at over ₦140 billion are currently underway across the state’s 14 local government areas as part of ongoing efforts to rebuild infrastructure and improve public services.
Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Mahmud Dantawasa, announced this in a statement issued in Gusau on Thursday, saying the initiative reflects Governor Dauda Lawal’s vision for inclusive development across key sectors.
According to Dantawasa, each local government area is hosting projects worth more than ₦10 billion, covering health, education, roads, agriculture, water supply, and commerce.
“The administration of Lawal has embarked on massive developmental projects across all the 14 LGAs,” he said.
“These projects demonstrate the governor’s commitment to rebuilding Zamfara and improving the lives of its citizens.”
The commissioner explained that while some of the projects have been completed, others remain ongoing, signalling what he described as “visible progress and transparent governance.”
He noted that township road projects spanning five kilometres each are being executed in 13 local councils, excluding Gusau, where larger infrastructural works are underway. The roads, he said, are improving connectivity and promoting rural and urban trade.
Dantawasa also disclosed that the state government is renovating and upgrading general hospitals across all senatorial zones, alongside the construction of a new General Hospital at Nasarawa Burkullu in Bukkuyum Local Government Area.
The hospital, he said, will be fully equipped with modern medical facilities, while primary healthcare centres in rural communities are being strengthened to enhance access to quality medical services.
In the education sector, the commissioner said the government is rehabilitating schools across the state, supplying new furniture and learning materials, and recruiting teachers to raise educational standards.
He added that the construction of the Mallamawa–Bukkuyum–Masamar Mudi Road in Bukkuyum LGA is progressing, describing it as a key infrastructure that would stimulate agricultural and commercial activities in the area.
Other projects include the construction of an ultra-modern market at Nasarawa Burkullu, the drilling of motorised boreholes, the expansion of water supply networks, and rural electrification projects designed to power health centres, schools, and public institutions.
“These projects are at different stages, some completed and inaugurated, others ongoing, all reflecting the administration’s unwavering resolve to rebuild Zamfara with accountability and measurable progress,” Dantawasa added.
Governor Lawal had in August announced an 11.65-kilometre road linking Rawayya, Furfuri, and Kurya Madaro in Bungudu and Kaura Namoda LGAs, valued at ₦6.6 billion. The project, expected to be completed within a year, is aimed at improving transportation, enhancing local trade, and boosting economic connectivity across the state.
