Plateau Now Has All APC Lawmakers in House of Reps as Labour Party Member Defects

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has consolidated its control of all House of Representatives seats from Plateau State following the defection of the member representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, from the Labour Party (LP) to the ruling party.

The defection was formally announced on Thursday during plenary at the National Assembly in Abuja, in the presence of the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who was at the House of Representatives to observe legislative proceedings and welcome new members into the party.

The latest defection means that all members of the House of Representatives from Plateau State are now in the APC, marking a significant political gain for the ruling party in the state.

Speaking after the defection, Prof. Yilwatda commended the new member for his “courageous and patriotic decision” to join the APC, assuring him of equal opportunity and support within the party.

He also applauded the leadership of the House for fostering an environment that encourages cooperation across party lines for the progress of the nation.

In a statement, a ranking lawmaker from Plateau State described the development as a testament to the growing confidence of political leaders in the APC’s direction under President Bola Tinubu.

“Today marks a defining moment for our state and for our party. The APC has now become the unanimous voice of Plateau at the federal level, and we will continue to work collectively for the peace, unity, and development of our dear state,” he said.

The defection further strengthens the APC’s presence in the National Assembly and is expected to boost the party’s coordination with Plateau lawmakers on key national and regional issues.
