Oluremi Tinubu Boosts Youth Empowerment with 10 Digital Learning Centres
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated 10 new Digital Learning Centres across the country to promote technological literacy and equip young Nigerians with digital skills for the future.
The centres, established under the Renewed Hope Initiative in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), are located in Abia, Delta, Edo, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ondo, Yobe, and Zamfara States.
Speaking during the virtual commissioning ceremony held at the State House in Abuja, Mrs Tinubu said the project reflects her unwavering commitment to youth empowerment through education.
She described the initiative as a strategic effort to “equip young Nigerians with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in a digital world.”
“This project is not just about computers and internet access,” the First Lady said. “It is about nurturing creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship among Nigeria’s youth.”
She explained that the programme supports President Bola Tinubu’s developmental vision of building a knowledge-driven economy and ensuring that “every child, regardless of background or geography, has access to quality digital learning opportunities.”
According to her, the Renewed Hope Digital Learning Project embodies inclusiveness and seeks to bridge the gap between education and employability by empowering students and communities, especially those in underserved areas, to participate fully in Nigeria’s digital transformation journey.
“Through the Renewed Hope Initiative, we are ensuring that no community is left behind in Nigeria’s digital transformation journey,” she added.
The project aligns with the Federal Government’s wider push to create an enabling environment for innovation and youth development, which the First Lady had earlier highlighted during an October 10 address where she urged Nigerian youths to remain hardworking, compassionate, and united as the nation works toward harnessing their creative potential.
