Troops Kill 10 More Insurgents, Recover Weapons in Renewed North-East Offensive

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed 10 terrorists and recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and operational equipment in fresh encounters along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State, intensifying military pressure on insurgents in the North-East.

In a statement issued Sunday, the spokesperson for the Joint Task Force, North-East Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Sanni Uba, said the latest operation followed last week’s successful engagements in which over 50 terrorists were neutralised during coordinated attacks across multiple locations.

“Following the neutralisation of over 50 terrorists in a previous encounter at the Katarko axis, troops of Operation Hadin Kai in another encounter along Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte neutralised 10 additional insurgents and secured weapons and equipment,” Uba stated.

He explained that troops from Sector 1, under the 24 Task Force Brigade, carried out a precision night operation to counter a terrorist attempt to infiltrate Gamboru Ngala from the Flatari axis. After suffering losses, the insurgents diverted toward Dikwa but were ambushed again and “scores neutralised on the Dikwa–Marte road.”

“At approximately 23:50 hours on 25 October 2025, while manning a pre-established ambush position, the troops identified and engaged the hostile elements. The unit delivered heavy and accurate suppressive fire, forcing the insurgents to retreat in disarray,” the statement continued.

He said a follow-up clearance operation at first light confirmed that ten insurgents had been neutralised, while a search of the area yielded several weapons and items.

Recovered equipment included five AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, three locally made guns, two fabricated pistols, and multiple magazines loaded with 7.62mm rounds.

Troops also seized two motorcycles, two bicycles, one radio, and several personal effects, including charms, raincoats, and blankets.

Lt. Col. Uba said the military high command commended the troops’ “gallantry, vigilance, and tactical proficiency,” adding that the success of the operation underscored “the effectiveness of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts and reaffirmed the commitment of Operation Hadin Kai to sustain offensive actions, protect civilians, and restore lasting peace and stability in the North-East.”

The fresh encounter came days after troops of Operation Hadin Kai repelled simultaneous attacks on military bases across five locations in Borno and Yobe States, killing over 50 insurgents.

Between midnight and 4 a.m. on October 23, terrorists reportedly launched coordinated assaults on troops’ positions in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko.

However, according to the military, combined ground and air operations crushed the attacks, leaving dozens of insurgents dead.

Lt. Col. Uba reiterated that the recent string of successful operations demonstrates the military’s renewed momentum in degrading the remaining terrorist networks operating in the region.
