Tinubu Holds Closed-Door Meeting With Service Chiefs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday met with Nigeria’s service chiefs behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, in what is believed to be a high-level security briefing.

Although the details of the meeting were not disclosed to the press, sources within the Presidency indicated that discussions may have centred on the nation’s current security architecture and ongoing efforts to address rising threats across different regions of the country.

In attendance were the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyode; the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kelvin Aneke; the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye.

The meeting comes amid renewed security challenges in parts of the country, including bandit attacks in the North-West, insurgency in the North-East, and growing cases of kidnapping and violent crimes in other regions.

Since assuming office, President Tinubu has repeatedly emphasized the need for a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s security framework, tasking the armed forces to adopt modern strategies and stronger inter-agency coordination in tackling the nation’s security threats.

While the outcome of Monday’s meeting remains undisclosed, it is expected that the deliberations will influence subsequent security operations and policy directions aimed at restoring peace and stability across the country.
