Tompolo Disowns Report Linking Him to Nnamdi Kanu Ultimatum

Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has emphatically denied issuing any 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government regarding the continued detention of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Tompolo, who holds the title of Ibe-Ebidouwei of the Ijaw nation and is the Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, dismissed the trending social media report as the work of his adversaries.

In a statement signed by his Media Consultant, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo asserted that he had “nothing to do with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu.” The statement claims the publication is the “handwork of Tompolo’s enemies,” who are trying to “discredit and pull him down because of his stand against illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta region.”

The security chief used the opportunity to reaffirm his strong allegiance to the current administration, stating, “We wish to reassure the Federal Government, led by our dynamic President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that Tompolo is with him and will continue to support the renewed agenda of his government.”

The statement also added that Tompolo “reaffirms his endorsement of Mr President for a second term.”

The Federal Government and the general public were urged to “ignore the said publication.”

The denial comes as Nnamdi Kanu’s trial continues in the Federal High Court in Abuja. The court recently adjourned Kanu’s trial till Monday, October 27, to allow him to open his defense in the terrorism charges against him.

The adjournment was necessary after Kanu informed the court that his former legal team had not yet released his case file to him.

Separately, activist Omoyele Sowore recently led a protest in Abuja, demanding Kanu’s immediate release.
