Oyebanji Targets Clean Sweep as APC Holds Peaceful Delegates Congress in Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is determined to secure victory in all 177 wards of the state during the June 20, 2026, governorship election.

Speaking on Saturday at his ward in Ikogosi-Ekiti during the party’s delegates congress, Oyebanji expressed confidence that his administration’s performance and inclusiveness had strengthened the APC’s appeal across the state, even among opposition supporters.

The congress, held simultaneously in all 177 wards, was aimed at electing delegates who will participate in the party’s governorship primary scheduled for Monday, October 27. The delegates are expected to affirm Oyebanji as the APC’s flag bearer for the 2026 governorship election.

The APC National Working Committee had earlier announced Oyebanji as the party’s consensus candidate following the withdrawal of Mrs. Atinuke Olayemi Omolayo, leaving the governor as the sole aspirant in the race.

Two other aspirants, Kayode Ojo and Abimbola Olawumi, were previously disqualified.

Addressing party members, Oyebanji praised the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise, describing it as a reflection of the party’s unity and discipline in the state.

“This congress is another demonstration of the maturity and commitment that define the APC in Ekiti State,” he said. “You can see that our members are happy and united in one accord. In all wards, delegates were chosen by consensus, which shows the harmony between the leadership and members of our great party.”

The governor noted that the APC’s popularity had continued to grow due to his administration’s performance and people-oriented governance.

“In the last three years, we have made the party more attractive to the people. Many from other political parties have joined us because they see what we have done in terms of development and service delivery,” he stated.

Oyebanji further expressed optimism that the APC would achieve an unprecedented victory in the forthcoming governorship election.

“By the grace of God, our goal is to win all 177 wards — something that has never happened in the history of this state,” he added.

The Chairman of the APC Delegates Congress Committee for Ekiti State, Jaret Tenebe, commended the peaceful nature of the congress across the wards. Tenebe, who also serves as the APC Chairman in Edo State, lauded Governor Oyebanji’s leadership for fostering unity within the party.

“Our team has visited all local governments and wards, and we are impressed with the process. I congratulate all the delegates who emerged and commend the governor for making the APC proud,” he said.

The peaceful outcome of the congress further cements Oyebanji’s dominance in Ekiti APC politics as the party gears up for next year’s governorship election.
