ADC Accuses Soludo of Voter Inducement Ahead of Governorship Election
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, of engaging in voter inducement ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election in the state.
The party’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, alleged that the governor has resorted to “cash-for-votes” tactics as a result of dwindling public confidence in his administration.
Abdullahi claimed that Soludo’s actions contravene provisions of the Electoral Act, which prohibit financial inducement and other forms of bribery during electioneering.
He described the alleged move as “a clear sign of desperation” by the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
“Governor Soludo’s attempt to buy voters ahead of the November 8 election is a violation of the Electoral Act and an insult to the people of Anambra State. It shows how much confidence he has lost among the electorate,” Abdullahi wrote.
The ADC spokesperson further called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and relevant law enforcement agencies to investigate the allegations and ensure a level playing field for all political parties participating in the election.
He warned that voter inducement undermines democracy and erodes the credibility of the electoral process, urging Anambra residents to reject any attempt to “monetize their future.”
As of press time, the Anambra State Government and the APGA campaign organization were yet to respond to the ADC’s allegations.
The November 8 governorship election in Anambra is expected to be closely contested, with several opposition parties including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Labour Party (LP) seeking to unseat Governor Soludo, who is running for a second term in office.
