PDP Constitutes 13-Member Screening Committee Ahead of 2025 National Convention
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the formation of a 13-member National Convention Screening Committee to assess aspirants vying for various national positions ahead of its much-awaited 2025 Elective National Convention scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, 2025.
In a statement released on Saturday, October 25, 2025, by the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC), and signed by its Chairman, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, the screening exercise is set to take place on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
According to the statement, former Ondo State governorship candidate and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Eyitayo Jegede, will serve as Chairman of the screening committee. He will be assisted by Hon. Mohammed L.S. Diri (SAN) as Deputy Chairman, while legal practitioner Mr. Asue Ighodalo will serve as Secretary. Jacob Otorkpa was appointed Deputy Secretary.
Other members of the committee include Emmanuel Enoidem (SAN), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Chief (Mrs.) Aduke Maina, Iyom Josephine Anenih, Achike Udenwa, Hajia Maryam Inna Ciroma, Hon. Felix Hassan Hyat, Hon. Zainab Maina, and Chinedu Nwachukwu, who will also function as Administrative Secretary.
The NCOC explained that the composition of the committee reflects the PDP’s dedication to fairness, transparency, and internal democracy as it prepares for its national convention.
“The NCOC expects that members of the committee will display exemplary conduct and adhere strictly to the party’s rules and guidelines throughout this critical exercise, thereby justifying the confidence reposed in them,” the statement read.
Governor Fintiri assured party members that the screening will be handled with utmost professionalism, emphasizing that the process will be impartial and credible.
“This exercise is vital to ensuring that only qualified, dependable, and loyal members are cleared to lead our great party as we prepare for the 2027 general elections,” Fintiri said.
The PDP’s national convention is expected to draw significant attention, as it marks a major step in repositioning the party for future electoral contests.
