Lagos Rescue Team Evacuates Mentally Challenged Woman Terrorising Ogba Community
The Lagos State Government has intervened to assist a mentally challenged woman who had reportedly been causing disturbances in the Ogba community, Agege area.
The situation drew public attention after a video went viral showing a resident pleading for help, describing the woman’s erratic behavior, which allegedly included throwing stones into homes and wielding a machete and knife.
Mobolaji Ogunlende, Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, confirmed that the state’s Rescue Team had evacuated the woman from her residence at No. 31 Adedosu Street, Agege. She has since been taken to a care center for medical attention and rehabilitation.
Ogunlende emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals while maintaining social stability in Lagos.
He also urged members of the public to report similar incidents requiring government intervention.
“This action highlights the proactive approach of the Lagos State Government in addressing mental health issues and ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents,” Ogunlende added.
The state authorities assured that appropriate measures will continue to be taken to support vulnerable persons and maintain peace in communities across Lagos.
