The Governing Council of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State, has approved the appointment of Professor Mohammed Khalid Othman as the new substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution.

The announcement was made by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Alhaji Ali Abubakar Jatau, shortly after the 36th Special Meeting of the Council held at the Grand Amber Hotel and Suites in Dutse, Jigawa State.

This was contained in a statement issued by the university’s Director of Information and Protocol, Nasiru Abdul, and made available to newsmen on Saturday.

According to the statement, the appointment of Professor Othman followed the submission and careful consideration of the report of the Joint Council/Senate Selection Board on the appointment of a substantive Vice Chancellor for the university.

“After a rigorous and transparent selection process, the Council approved the appointment of Professor Mohammed Khalid Othman as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma,” the statement read in part.

Professor Othman, a seasoned academic and administrator, is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear in consolidating the university’s academic and infrastructural growth.

The Governing Council commended the outgoing Vice Chancellor and other applicants for their contributions and dedication to the progress of the university.

It also urged the new Vice Chancellor to foster teamwork, uphold academic excellence, and strengthen the institution’s commitment to research, innovation, and community development.

“The Council calls on all staff and students to support the new Vice Chancellor in his efforts to move the university to greater heights,” the statement added.

The appointment takes effect immediately, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the 13-year-old institution.
