Sowore, #FreeNnamdiKanu Protesters Granted Bail in Abuja

A magistrate court in Abuja has granted bail to human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, Aloy Ejimakor (one of Nnamdi Kanu’s disengaged counsel), and 11 others following their arrests during a recent protest in the city center.

Sowore, the Sahara Reporters publisher, was arrested by the police on Thursday shortly after leaving the premises of the Federal High Court in Abuja. His arrest stemmed from his leadership of the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest into “restricted areas” of the city center.

Ejimakor and 11 other defendants were arrested earlier on Monday at different locations in Abuja for “inciting public disturbance” during the same protest.

The other individuals granted bail include Emmanuel Kanu, Joshua Emmanuel, Wilson Anyalewechi, Okere Kingdom Nnamdi, Clinton Chimeneze, Gabriel Joshua, Isiaka Husseini, Onyekachi Ferdinand, Amadi Prince, Edison Ojisom, Godwill Obioma, and Chima Onuchukwu.

Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’I’d granted bail to all 13 defendants under the following conditions:

* A bond of N500,000 each.

* Submission of a verified National Identification Number (NIN).

* Submission of three-year tax clearance certificates.

* Submission of their passports.
