Tinubu’s request was contained in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Wednesday’s plenary session.

The president said the nomination was made in accordance with Section 116 of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Act of 2003.

“In accordance with the provisions of section 116 of the Nigerian Communications Commission Act 2003, I am pleased to present, for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of the underlisted eight persons as chairman and members of the board of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF),” the letter stated.

The nominees include Idris Olorunimbe as vice-chairman, Abraham Oshidami, Rimini Makama, Aliyu Edogi Aliyu representing the Ministry of Communications, Joseph B. Faluyi representing the Ministry of Finance, Auwal Mohammed representing the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Uzoma Dozie, Peter Bankole, Abayomi Anthony Okanlawon, and Gafar Oluwasegun Quadri.

President Tinubu urged the Senate to consider the nominations without delay.

Responding, Senate President Akpabio referred the list to the Senate Committee on Communications for screening. He directed the committee to report back to the chamber with its recommendations within one week.
