Kebbi Police Disburse ₦33.8 Million to Families of Fallen Officers
The Kebbi State Police Command has presented cheques totalling ₦33,816,610.97 to 50 families of officers who died in active service, underlining the Force’s continued commitment to the welfare of its personnel.
The presentation ceremony, held on Thursday at the Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani.
The support was provided under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes, initiatives established to assist families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
According to the Command, the programmes are part of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun’s wider reform drive to enhance staff welfare and provide sustained financial relief to bereaved families.
Commending the police chief, CP Sani described the initiative as a reflection of the IGP’s compassion and dedication to the well-being of personnel nationwide.
“The Inspector-General’s magnanimity continues to boost morale, enhance performance, and uplift the spirit of our officers across the country,” Sani said.
He prayed for divine guidance for the police boss and urged the beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly to secure their families’ future.
Sani added that the gesture had brought “immense joy and relief” to families of fallen officers and reinforced confidence in the institution’s commitment to their welfare.
Responding on behalf of the recipients, Sonnen Simeon Mome expressed gratitude to the IGP for the assistance, describing it as both timely and reassuring.
“This gesture shows that the Nigeria Police Force has not forgotten the sacrifices of our loved ones,” Mome said, pledging that the funds would be invested wisely for the benefit of their dependents.
The Kebbi Command reiterated its support for the welfare-driven initiatives of the police leadership, noting that similar disbursements are ongoing across other state commands.
