Tinubu Extends Tenure of Surveyor-General Adebomehin by Two Years

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly approved a two-year extension of the tenure of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Mr. Abuduganiyu Adebomehin.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the extension will take effect from January 5, 2026. The decision was said to have been influenced by the recent transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the Presidency.
The Presidency was reported to have explained that Mr. Adebomehin had already begun implementing major reforms in the country’s geospatial data systems, and the President was keen on seeing the completion of these initiatives.
President Tinubu was said to have directed the Surveyor-General to consolidate ongoing reforms within the extended period, with a focus on enhancing national land management and administration, improving coordination of highways and adjoining land infrastructure, as well as supporting reclamation and erosion control programmes.
The statement added that the President considered these areas to be of strategic national importance, noting that continuity in leadership was necessary to ensure the successful implementation of the reforms.
Mr. Adebomehin was appointed as the Surveyor-General of the Federation by former President Muhammadu Buhari, with effect from January 5, 2022.
