Tinubu Nominates Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro as Minister from Plateau State

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a letter to the Senate, seeking confirmation of Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The letter, which was read during Tuesday’s plenary by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, requested the lawmakers to give legislative approval to Dr. Doro’s nomination in line with constitutional provisions governing ministerial appointments.
Dr. Doro’s nomination follows the vacancy created after Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda’s election as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July 2025. Prof.
Yilwatda, who had earlier been tipped for a ministerial position, vacated his nomination upon assuming the leadership of the ruling party.
Although the President’s letter did not specify the portfolio for which Dr. Doro is being considered, sources within the Presidency hinted that the nominee is a seasoned technocrat and public policy expert with extensive experience in development administration and governance reform.
Senate President Akpabio, while reading the correspondence, referred the nomination to the Senate Committee on Screening and Confirmation, which is expected to commence vetting procedures immediately.
Dr. Doro’s nomination is expected to restore Plateau State’s representation in the Federal Executive Council, in line with the constitutional requirement that each state must have at least one minister.
If confirmed, Dr. Doro will join the Tinubu cabinet as part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and ensure regional balance in political appointments.
