Sean Dyche Returns to Nottingham Forest as Head Coach on Three-Year Deal

Nottingham Forest have announced the appointment of Sean Dyche as their new Head Coach, marking his return to the club where his football journey began.
The former Forest youth player signed a contract that will keep him at the City Ground until the summer of 2027. His first game in charge will come swiftly, as the Reds face FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday.
According to a statement released via the club’s official X handle on Tuesday, Dyche’s appointment followed an extensive recruitment process led by Global Head of Football, Edu Gaspar, and Global Technical Director, George Syrianos.
He will be assisted by Ian Woan and Steve Stone, both former Nottingham Forest players who made over 400 appearances combined for the club in the 1990s.
The club described Dyche as a “respected and experienced Premier League manager” whose leadership, tactical discipline, and record of building resilient teams make him the ideal fit for Forest’s ambitions.
“Having managed more than 330 Premier League matches, Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen, and proven achievement to guide the club through its next chapter,” the statement read.
It added that his local ties and understanding of the club’s culture would help deepen his connection with supporters.
“With his character, tactical acumen, and man-management skills, his appointment represents the best opportunity for a successful and competitive season across both domestic and European competitions,” the club said.
Dyche’s appointment follows the dismissal of former coach Ange Postecoglou, with Nottingham Forest seeking renewed direction as they push to strengthen their domestic and continental campaigns.
