NUPRC Warns Public Against Fake Accounts Impersonating CEO

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has warned the public against falling victim to fake social media accounts impersonating its Chief Executive, Gbenga Komolafe.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Commission described the circulation of such fraudulent accounts as a deliberate attempt by scammers to mislead unsuspecting members of the public and tarnish the image of the NUPRC boss.

“The attention of the Commission has been drawn to the existence of multiple fake social media accounts falsely bearing the name and photograph of the Chief Executive, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe. We wish to state categorically that the CEO does not operate or maintain any personal social media handle,” the statement read in part.

The Commission advised the public to disregard any messages, requests, or offers emanating from such fake accounts, stressing that all official information from NUPRC is disseminated only through its verified communication channels and website.

It further urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious online activities to relevant authorities to curb cyber impersonation and online fraud.
