Maguire Rallies Man Utd To Sustain Momentum After Historic Win Over Liverpool

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has urged his teammates to build on their thrilling victory over Liverpool, describing it as a statement performance that must mark the beginning of a consistent run of form for the club.

United stunned their rivals with a 2-1 win at Anfield, marking their first victory there in nearly a decade. Maguire sealed the triumph with a powerful header in the 84th minute, handing new manager Ruben Amorim his biggest win since taking charge.

Speaking after the match, Maguire expressed his pride and called on the team to maintain the same level of determination and intensity in the games ahead.

“We showed real character and belief today, and this kind of performance has to be our standard. It’s a big win for the fans and the club, but what matters now is building on it. We can’t let this be a one-off,” said Maguire.

The centre-back, who has regained his place in the starting lineup after a challenging spell, said unity and resilience would be key to Manchester United’s continued progress.

“We’ve had ups and downs, but this group is together. We’ve got quality all over the pitch, and when we play with intensity, we can beat anyone,” he added.

United manager Ruben Amorim, in his post-match comments, described the victory as the most significant of his tenure so far but warned that the team must remain focused.

“It’s a big moment for us, but it’s just one game. What matters now is consistency,” Amorim said.

Liverpool’s boss, Arne Slot, meanwhile admitted that his side faced challenges after the defeat, noting United’s energy and organization as decisive factors in the match.

The victory has lifted Manchester United further up the Premier League table and rekindled hopes of a strong finish to the season.

The Red Devils will now turn their attention to their next league fixture as they aim to build on their momentum and push for European qualification.
