NAF Reiterates Neutrality, Cautions Personnel Against Engaging in Political Activities
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has warned its personnel to remain professional, loyal, and strictly neutral in all political matters.
The caution was delivered by Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Usman Abdullahi, the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Special Operations Command, Bauchi, during the command’s 2025 annual 10-kilometer walk and jog exercise.
AVM Abdullahi stressed that the integrity and ethics of the military profession are non-negotiable. He warned that any personnel participating in activities capable of undermining the military’s values would face consequences.
The AOC gave a clear directive to all personnel:
* “You must remain apolitical.”
* “Don’t involve yourselves in any political activities or in anything that goes against the calling of our military profession.”
* He further urged them to remain “loyal to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.”
The AOC explained that the annual exercise was designed to enhance the physical and mental fitness of personnel, promote teamwork, and ensure combat readiness, underscoring the NAF’s high priority on the well-being and alertness of its officers and airmen.
On the side of the host state, Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed, lauded the NAF for its continuous efforts. Represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Auwal Jatau, the governor praised the impressive performance of the participants, describing it as a reflection of discipline and commitment.
The Governor highlighted that the inclusion of other security agencies, paramilitary organizations, and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the exercise “symbolized unity and shared purpose,” noting that such synergy has contributed immensely to maintaining peace and stability in Bauchi State.
The event concluded with prizes awarded to 32 participants, including airmen, airwomen, officers from the Nigeria Immigration and Customs Service, and civilians, for their outstanding performance.
