Manchester United End Anfield Drought as Liverpool Suffer Fourth Straight Defeat

Liverpool’s recent slump deepened on Sunday as they suffered a 2–1 home defeat to arch-rivals Manchester United their fourth consecutive loss in all competitions and their first such run in 11 years.
The victory marked a major milestone for United, who recorded their first win at Anfield in nearly a decade and their second consecutive Premier League triumph under new manager Ruben Amorim.
Liverpool started brightly but failed to make their dominance count, as United’s disciplined defence and quick counterattacks proved decisive.
Marcus Rashford gave United the lead midway through the first half with a composed finish after a clever through ball from Bruno Fernandes. Liverpool equalized shortly after the break through Mohamed Salah, who converted from close range following a defensive mix-up.
However, the Red Devils sealed all three points late in the game when Harry Maguire rose highest to head home a Fernandes corner in the 84th minute, silencing the Anfield crowd.
The result continues a worrying run for Jurgen Klopp’s men, who have now gone four matches without a win — their worst streak since the 2013–14 season.
For Manchester United, the victory represents a turning point in what has been an inconsistent campaign. Amorim’s men have now secured back-to-back league wins for the first time since his appointment, climbing further up the Premier League table and reigniting hopes of a top-four finish.
Liverpool will look to bounce back when they face Tottenham Hotspur next weekend, while United will aim to maintain their momentum as they host Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
