China Commends Nigerian Security Agencies for Rescuing 4 Kidnapped Nationals in Kwara

The Government of the People’s Republic of China has commended Nigerian security agencies for the successful rescue of four Chinese nationals abducted in Kwara State.
In a statement issued on Sunday, China’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, praised the coordinated efforts of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Police Force for their swift and effective operation.
The commendation was conveyed during a formal handover ceremony held at the DSS medical facility in Abuja, where the rescued victims were received by Chinese embassy officials.
Represented by the Consul of the Chinese Embassy, Wang Jun, Ambassador Dunhai lauded the professionalism and dedication of Nigeria’s security agencies, describing the operation as “a testament to the strong bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and China in the area of security and protection of citizens.”
He said, “We sincerely appreciate the Nigerian government, particularly the DSS, ONSA, the Nigerian Army, and the Police, for their timely intervention and commitment to ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens in the country.”
The envoy further expressed confidence that the incident would not deter ongoing Chinese investments and economic cooperation in Nigeria, adding that both nations remain partners in progress across trade, infrastructure, and technology sectors.
Sources said the four Chinese nationals, reportedly miners working on a project site in Kwara, were abducted by gunmen several days ago. They were rescued following an intelligence-led operation coordinated by the DSS in collaboration with other security agencies.
Officials confirmed that the victims were in stable condition and receiving medical care before being reunited with Chinese embassy representatives.
The Nigerian government also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding all foreign nationals residing or conducting business in the country, stressing that security operations will continue until kidnapping and other criminal activities are eradicated.
