Troops Arrest Wanted IPOB Commander, 8 Others in Fresh Military Operation

Troops of Operation UDO KA have arrested a wanted commander of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), identified as Gentle, along with eight other suspected criminals during coordinated operations in Owerri West, Mbaitoli, and Izzi areas of Imo and Ebonyi States.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed this during the bi-weekly defence media briefing held on Thursday in Abuja.
According to Kangye, the arrest followed a series of intelligence-driven raids aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring peace in the South-East region.
He said the operation led to the recovery of arms, ammunition, and other items linked to separatist and criminal activities.
“Troops of Operation UDO KA, in their continued efforts to restore law and order in the South-East, have apprehended a wanted IPOB commander known as Gentle, alongside eight other criminal elements operating across Imo and Ebonyi States,” he announced.
The Defence spokesman also highlighted other successes recorded by the Armed Forces in various theatres of operation nationwide, noting that several insurgents, kidnappers, and bandits had been neutralized or arrested, while victims of abduction were rescued during the period under review.
Major General Kangye reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to protecting the country’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
He urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counterterrorism and internal security operations.
