Two Nasarawa SDP Lawmakers Defect to APC

Two members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Musa Gude (representing Uke/Karshi) and Onarigu Kana (representing Udege/Loko), have officially defected from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement was made by the Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, during the House proceedings on a Monday in Lafia.
The defecting lawmakers, Mr. Gude and Mr. Kana, stated that their decision was motivated by the developmental strides of Governor Abdullahi Sule and was made after due consultation with the people of their respective constituencies.
They expressed gratitude to the SDP for the platform it gave them and pledged their commitment to continued leadership.
Speaker Danladi Jatau publicly appreciated their decision to join the APC and went a step further by appealing to the ruling party to grant the defecting members automatic tickets for the upcoming 2027 general elections as a “soft landing.”
The defection was welcomed by the state APC Secretary, Yarius Dagusa, who assured the new members of equal privileges, rights, and treatment within the party.
Mr. Dagusa also used the opportunity to caution APC governorship and other aspirants against castigating each other on social media.
