Tinubu Doesn’t Hate Igbo, Has Proved It Through Action, Vouches Benjamin Kanu

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has strongly defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against claims that he harbours hatred toward Igbo people, describing such accusations as false and politically motivated.

Speaking at a public forum on national unity and development, Kalu praised President Tinubu’s administration for what he called “significant achievements and inclusive governance that cuts across all regions.”

According to the Deputy Speaker, the President’s fiscal reforms and revenue restructuring have benefited all parts of the country, including the South-East, more than at any other time in recent years.

“Through the financial engineering revenue of the Federal Government, not Dike-si-Mba states are now enjoying greater inflows. More revenues are going to them,” Kalu said.

He added that President Tinubu’s call for state governments to “wet the ground” by creating jobs and stimulating local economies reflects his commitment to empowering subnational governments and reducing dependence on the federal purse.

“The President has done his part. Now, governors must acknowledge these giant strides and play their roles in reducing the burden on the Federal Government,” Kalu emphasized.

On the recurring claim that President Tinubu is anti-Igbo, the Deputy Speaker dismissed it as “completely untrue.”

“That the President hates the Igbo is a lie,” Kalu said firmly. “He has approved a lot of infrastructure projects whether roads, bridges, or social initiatives for the South East.

These are not promises; they are realities already taking shape.”

Kalu also addressed recent allegations of a so-called “Christian genocide” in parts of the country, describing them as baseless propaganda aimed at fueling religious division.

“There is nothing like a Christian genocide,” he asserted. “This government values every Nigerian life and remains committed to protecting all citizens, regardless of faith or ethnicity.”

The Deputy Speaker urged Nigerians to focus on unity, peace, and productivity rather than divisive rhetoric.

Political observers say Kalu’s remarks come at a time when the Tinubu administration is working to strengthen ties with leaders from the South-East, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, economic growth, and national reconciliation.
