Tacha Kicks Off 24-Hour Guinness World Record Beauty Marathon In Lagos
Former Big Brother Naija star and entrepreneur, Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has embarked on a 24-hour marathon in Lagos in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the most makeovers completed within 24 hours.
The beauty challenge, tagged the Tacha Beauty Festival, commenced at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, Onikan, Lagos.
The event is expected to run through Sunday evening, during which Tacha aims to complete 150 makeovers within the stipulated 24-hour timeframe.
According to the reality TV star, the record attempt, which has been in the works for nearly two years, was originally scheduled to take place in London in partnership with a major cosmetic brand.
However, Tacha opted to host the event in Nigeria, explaining that it was important to celebrate and project the Nigerian beauty industry to a global audience.
“I wanted this to happen in Nigeria because our country has so much talent and energy to showcase to the world.
This is about showing that we can do it here, and we can do it excellently,” she said before beginning the marathon.
The event, which has drawn a large crowd of supporters, features celebrities and influencers including Hilda Baci, Broda Shaggi, Liquorose, and Dabota Lawson, among others.
Midway through the marathon, reports indicated that Tacha had already completed over 115 makeovers, surpassing a previous record benchmark of 113 makeovers within 24 hours.
Despite brief power interruptions during the night, her team continued to work tirelessly to maintain momentum.
Tacha also dedicated the event to her late mother, paying an emotional tribute before beginning the challenge.
At the conclusion of the marathon, all documentation and video evidence will be submitted to Guinness World Records for verification. If validated, the achievement will mark another global milestone for Nigeria, following similar feats recorded by chef Hilda Baci and others in recent years.
The beauty marathon continues to attract significant attention on social media, with fans commending Tacha’s determination, stamina, and patriotic decision to host the record attempt on home soil.
