Mbah Hasn’t Told Us He’s Leaving, Fubara Loyal to PDP, Claims Bala Mohammed

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has reacted to reports suggesting that Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State may be planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking to journalists on Saturday after a meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum in Abuja, Mohammed dismissed the reports as speculative, noting that Mbah had not communicated any intention to leave the party.

“Governor Mbah has not told us he’s leaving the PDP. He remains a respected member of our forum and a loyal governor under the PDP platform,” Mohammed said.

He emphasized that the PDP Governors’ Forum remains united and continues to work collectively to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mohammed also addressed questions about the loyalty of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who has been engaged in a prolonged political tussle with his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

“Governor Fubara has demonstrated loyalty to the PDP. Despite the challenges in his state, he has remained committed to the ideals and structures of our great party,” Mohammed stated.

The Bauchi governor reiterated the PDP governors’ commitment to internal reconciliation and stability, adding that the forum is focused on repositioning the party to reclaim power at the national level.

“We are talking to all our members, addressing grievances, and ensuring the PDP remains the most credible alternative for Nigerians. The challenges we face only make us stronger,” he added.

Rumours of Mbah’s planned defection to the APC surfaced earlier this week following reports that the Enugu governor might be formally received by the ruling party at an event in Abuja.

However, neither Mbah nor the Enugu Government House has issued any official statement confirming or denying the speculation.
