Ankle Injury Rules Out Mbappé from France’s World Cup Qualifier Against Iceland

Kylian Mbappé will miss France’s upcoming World Cup qualifying match against Iceland on Monday after sustaining a right ankle injury.

The French Football Federation (FFF) confirmed Mbappé’s withdrawal on Saturday, revealing that the star forward will return to Real Madrid for further treatment.

The FFF also noted that Mbappé will not be replaced in the squad.

Mbappé picked up the injury during France’s 3-0 victory over Azerbaijan on Friday. Despite his setback, he had already contributed to the win with a goal and an assist before leaving the field in the 83rd minute due to discomfort in his ankle.

This injury comes shortly after a similar ankle problem that Mbappé experienced while playing for Real Madrid against Villarreal prior to the international break.

Despite the absence of their talisman, France remains in strong form in Group D, having won all three of their qualifying matches so far.

The team will now face Iceland without Mbappé, relying on other attacking options to maintain their winning momentum.
