Akpabio’s Aide Denies EFCC Case, Demands Retraction from PDP Chieftain

Kenny Okolugbo, the Media Aide to Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has vehemently dismissed allegations that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has any pending case against his principal.

Okolugbo made the clarification during an interview on Arise Television on Saturday.

The aide’s comments were a direct reaction to allegations made by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adetokunbo Pearse, who had claimed that Akpabio had criminal cases pending with the EFCC.

Okolugbo called Pearse’s comments “quite irresponsible,” stating that the allegations that Akpabio is a “criminal, has cases pending with the EFCC, and poses a threat to women in the Senate are totally uncalled for.”

The aide revealed that they have sent a letter to Pearse demanding he retract his statements and issue a public apology on national television and in the daily press within three days.

“If he fails to do so within three days, we will take further action to ensure that people stop using the Senate President as a punching bag,” Okolugbo concluded.
