Three Dead, Dozens Evacuated as Floods Ravage Bulgarian Resorts

Severe flooding has struck Bulgaria’s southern Black Sea coast, leaving at least three people dead and forcing the evacuation of dozens of residents and tourists.
The resort towns of Elenite and Sveti Vlas were among the hardest hit, as torrential rains caused widespread destruction and power outages.
Electricity supply was completely cut off in Elenite, while floodwaters inundated roads, homes, and several beachfront hotels, leaving vehicles submerged and infrastructure badly damaged.
Emergency services have been working around the clock to rescue stranded residents and visitors, using boats to reach flooded areas.
Authorities have declared a state of emergency in Nessebar and Tsarevo, two popular tourist destinations, as continuous rainfall threatens further landslides and property damage.
Local officials have urged residents to remain indoors and avoid travel until conditions improve.
According to Bulgaria’s Civil Protection authorities, the flooding followed hours of intense rainfall that overwhelmed drainage systems and triggered flash floods across the coastal region.
Meteorologists warn that more rain is expected in the coming days, raising fears of additional flooding.
Rescue teams, police, and firefighters are on the ground, assessing damage and assisting evacuees.
The government has pledged immediate relief support for affected communities and said recovery efforts will begin once the water levels recede.
