Betrayed and Buried in Debt: Woman’s Life Shattered After Funding Husband’s Affair
A Kenyan woman’s life was plunged into financial and emotional turmoil after she secured a significant bank loan at the behest of her then-husband, only to see the funds squandered on his lavish, philandering lifestyle. The mother, shared her harrowing ordeal during an interview with Muoroto FM, recounting a devastating tale of spousal deception and irresponsibility.
The saga began when her husband persuaded her to take out a KSh 300,000 credit facility, promising that the lump sum would be used to jointly acquire a plot of land for their future. Trusting in her spouse of 12 years, she secured the substantial amount and promptly handed the entire proceeds over to him.
However, the reality quickly deviated from the shared dream. The woman recounted that shortly after receiving the money, her husband’s behavior drastically changed. Instead of investing in property, he allegedly diverted the cash to finance “partying expeditions” and frequent outings with multiple other women. “He utilized that money for drinking and entertaining his paramours,” she stated, detailing the complete betrayal of their marital trust.
When the monthly repayment demands from the financial institution began, the former wife found herself solely responsible for the debt. Reaching out to her husband for assistance only met with a shockingly callous and insulting response.
She revealed that when she pressed him for help with the loan servicing, he vulgarly suggested she seek out other men to finance the repayments.
“To this day, the bank constantly contacts me, insisting I settle the debt. I am plagued by regret. I constantly wish I had just taken the loan and enjoyed every shilling myself,” she lamented.
The couple’s 12-year marriage ultimately crumbled under the weight of her husband’s alcoholism and infidelity, a situation exacerbated by the financial betrayal.
The woman asserted that the deep-seated disrespect and damage caused by his actions have made any reconciliation impossible. “I could never reunite with him because I have lost all respect for him,” she concluded, signaling a definitive end to their relationship following a betrayal that cost her both her savings and her peace of mind.
