Shehu Sani Urges Youths to Join Politics, Declares 2027 Senate Ambition

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has called on Nigerian youths to move beyond social media activism and content creation, urging them to get directly involved in politics if they truly want to transform the nation.
Speaking during a public event where he formally declared his intention to contest for the Senate in 2027, Sani lamented that many of Nigeria’s young people who are the same age as those who led the country during the return to democracy in 1999 have limited themselves to being content creators and social media influencers rather than agents of political change.
“Many of Nigeria’s youths, who are the same age as the leaders of 1999, are now content creators and social media influencers,” Sani said.
“This cannot change a nation or shape it according to your dreams. The youths need to be involved in politics if they truly want to rescue this country.”
The former lawmaker, known for his activism and outspoken criticism of bad governance, stressed that political participation is the most effective way to drive reform and hold leaders accountable.
He noted that while social media platforms have become powerful tools for expression and mobilization, they cannot replace the structures of governance and decision-making where real change is made.
Sani also reaffirmed his commitment to representing the interests of ordinary Nigerians, promising to prioritize legislation that addresses unemployment, insecurity, and poverty if elected.
“The future belongs to the youth, but only those willing to fight for it through democratic participation will inherit it,” he added.
Sani, who previously represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District from 2015 to 2019, will be seeking a return to the Senate in the 2027 general elections.
