Fire Guts Section of Rivers State Government Secretariat
An inferno has reportedly broken out and razed a section of the Rivers State Government secretariat located in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The incident is understood to have specifically affected the part of the complex that houses the Rivers State Pension Board.
The cause of the fire has not yet been officially ascertained.
This development occurs just a few weeks after President Bola Tinubu intervened in the state’s political crisis, leading to the recall of the suspended State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and members of the State House of Assembly.
Recall that Tinubu had declared state of emergency in the oil rich Niger Delta state on March 18, 2025.
