NANS Demands Withdrawal of Mandy Kiss’s Appointment as Anti-Drug Ambassador
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on the Lagos State Kick Against Drug Abuse Initiative (LASKADA) to immediately revoke the anti-drug ambassadorial appointment recently conferred on social media personality, Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandy Kiss.
In a statement issued on Friday night by the Assistant Secretary General of NANS Headquarters, Comrade Adejuwon Olatunji Emmanuel, the students’ body described the appointment as “inappropriate and counterproductive.”
NANS expressed “grave and deep concern” over the development, noting that public figures chosen as ambassadors against drug abuse must embody values that inspire discipline, positive lifestyle choices, and responsible social conduct.
According to the association, entrusting such a critical role to Mandy Kiss sends the wrong message to Nigerian youths and undermines the credibility of campaigns against drug abuse.
“We strongly urge LASKADA to reconsider this decision and withdraw the appointment without delay,” the statement read. “The fight against drug abuse requires role models whose lives and influence reflect the ideals of sobriety, discipline, and social responsibility.”
The students’ body further pledged its commitment to working with relevant stakeholders in promoting awareness, sensitisation, and preventive measures against drug and substance abuse among young Nigerians.
Neither Mandy Kiss nor LASKADA has publicly responded to the NANS statement as of press time.
