Nigeria at 65: Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi Felicitates With Nigerians, Commends President Tinubu’s Masses-Oriented Reforms

As Nigeria marks her 65th Independence Anniversary today, Convener of the BAT Ideological Group, Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi, has extended warm felicitations to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, while commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for taking bold steps to reposition the nation on the path of sustainable growth, progress and people-centered governance.

In his Independence Day goodwill message, Comrade Atoyebi described the anniversary as a reminder of Nigeria’s resilience, diversity, and unwavering hope in spite of numerous challenges since 1960.

“This Independence Day is not only a time to reflect on our hard-earned freedom, but also to embrace the bold reforms being undertaken today to secure a greater tomorrow.

“President Tinubu has shown himself to be masses-friendly by redirecting resources to where they are most needed — the people,” Atoyebi said.

Highlighting some of the key interventions of the administration since May 2023, Comrade Atoyebi noted that:

The removal of subsidies, once benefiting the wealthy, has been redirected into Nelfund, TIVET initiatives, and loan facilities for lecturers.

The launch of ₦75,000 and ₦25,000 conditional cash transfers has provided critical relief to between 15 million and 75 million vulnerable households across the country.

Subsidising dialysis treatment from ₦100,000 to ₦12,000 has eased the burden of healthcare costs for poor households.

Youth and small-scale business empowerment programs are being expanded to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation.

Comrade Atoyebi emphasized that while the road ahead may not be without difficulties, the reforms show a clear determination to build an inclusive economy that prioritizes the masses.

“At 65, Nigeria’s journey is far from perfect, but our collective destiny is bright. With unity, patience, and commitment, we can all contribute to building the Nigeria of our dreams” he added.

The BAT Ideological Group reaffirmed its commitment to promoting ideas and policies that align with the vision of a renewed Nigeria, while congratulating all Nigerians on this milestone anniversary.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!
