Police Arrest Five Banditry Suspects, Recover Arms in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the arrest of five suspected bandits and the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition during a series of operations carried out between September 20 and 28, 2025.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Monday, noting that the breakthrough was part of intensified efforts to rid the FCT of violent crime.

According to Adeh, the arrests came on the heels of an earlier operation conducted between September 15 and 18 in Guzape, Karu, and Zinda Forest. During that raid, police operatives neutralised three bandits and killed a notorious kingpin identified as Abdullahi Umar, popularly known as Duna.

In addition to clamping down on banditry, the Command said it recorded major successes against other forms of crime across the FCT. Eleven suspected drug dealers were arrested, while 68 bags of cannabis were recovered during intelligence-led operations.

Police operatives also smashed a ‘one-chance’ robbery syndicate responsible for dispossessing a victim of N2.7 million. Vehicles, firearms, and other stolen items linked to the gang were also recovered.

SP Adeh assured residents that the FCT Police Command remains committed to its mandate of safeguarding lives and property. She called on the public to continue providing timely information to aid ongoing operations against crime in the territory.

“The successes recorded in recent weeks show the Command’s renewed determination to confront criminal elements head-on. We urge residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly,” the statement added.

The Command reiterated that efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the criminal syndicates while maintaining surveillance in identified black spots across the FCT.
