Lagos Records Fifth Female Local Government Official’s Death in Two Months

Lagos State has been thrown into mourning once again following the death of Mrs. Adebimpe Akinola, the Council Manager of Coker-Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
Her death on Monday, September 29, 2025, makes her the fifth female local government official to pass away in the state within the past two months.
Mrs. Akinola, who also served as the Chairperson of the Forum of Council Managers in Lagos, died after a short illness. Until her passing, she was the Head of Administration in Coker-Aguda LCDA and was widely praised for her commitment to public service.
Confirming the news, the Forum of Council Managers released a statement expressing sorrow over the development.
The statement read: “With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the passing away of our dear Chairman, Mrs. Adebimpe Akinola, this afternoon, Monday, 29th September, 2025. She was the Council Manager of Coker-Aguda LCDA until her death.”
The Forum added that burial arrangements would be announced later in line with Islamic rites.
