Insecurity: Ododo Orders Closure of Illegal Trailer Parks in Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has ordered the immediate closure of unauthorized trailer parks in the state as part of fresh measures to curb rising insecurity.
The governor directed that all illegal trailer parks located in Zariagi, Lokoja, and Osara in Adavi Local Government Area be shut down for an initial period of one month.
The decision, according to the government, follows intelligence reports linking some of the parks to criminal activities.
Security agencies say hoodlums, disguising as truck drivers, have been using the facilities as hideouts to evade detection.
Ododo warned that while genuine haulage operators would not be targeted, those using the parks illegally must vacate within the stipulated time frame.
He instructed security operatives to strictly enforce the order to prevent any further exploitation of the facilities by criminal elements.
The move comes against the backdrop of recent violent incidents in Kogi, including an attack in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government, where gunmen ambushed a checkpoint and killed police officers as well as local vigilante members.
Governor Ododo assured residents that his administration remains committed to dismantling criminal networks across the state, adding that decisive action will be taken wherever public safety is at risk.
With the closure order now in effect, trailer operators have been given one month to comply, after which stricter enforcement measures will be rolled out.
