Aziegbemi Re-Elected as Edo PDP Chairman
Dr. Tony Aziegbemi has been re-elected as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, securing a second term in office at the party’s state congress held on Saturday.
The congress, which drew 917 delegates from all 18 local government areas of the state, was supervised by a panel from the PDP national headquarters, led by Mr. Tariga Tulagha, Chairman of the Electoral Committee.
Aziegbemi, along with most of the other candidates for various positions in the State Executive Committee, ran unopposed. However, Tulagha stressed that the exercise had to strictly comply with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines, even where consensus candidates emerged.
Speaking after his re-election, Aziegbemi expressed gratitude to party members for their continued trust and pledged to consolidate on the gains made during his first tenure. He also assured that the new executive would work tirelessly to strengthen the PDP in Edo and prepare the party for future electoral victories.
The peaceful conduct of the congress was lauded by party stakeholders, who described it as a demonstration of internal unity and a step toward sustaining the PDP’s dominance in Edo politics.
