2,000 Corps Members Begin Service in Jigawa as State Promises Support

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II has officially commenced in Jigawa State, with 2,000 corps members sworn in on Friday at the Fanisau Orientation Camp in Dutse.
The three-week orientation marks the beginning of their one-year national assignment, during which the graduates will be deployed across the state to support education, healthcare, and community development initiatives.
Addressing the corps members during the swearing-in, Governor Umar Namadi—represented by his deputy, Aminu Gumel—assured participants of government’s commitment to their safety and welfare.
He urged them to embrace their service year as an opportunity to contribute to grassroots development while gaining valuable life experiences.
“Our administration values the contributions of corps members and will continue to prioritise your welfare,” Gumel said.
“Jigawa will remain a safe place for your national duty, and we encourage you to serve with integrity and dedication.”
NYSC State Coordinator, Jidda Dawud, reminded the corps members to adhere to the scheme’s rules and stressed the importance of discipline, hard work, and commitment throughout their service year.
He highlighted the key areas where corps members will be engaged, including health sensitisation programmes, teaching, and community development projects.
“We expect every corps member to be a responsible ambassador, promoting peace and development wherever posted,” Dawud said.
The oath of allegiance was administered by Justice Amina Dahiru on behalf of the state’s Chief Judge, while the event drew attendance from government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers, and representatives of the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Adamu Kiyawa.
