Sit-at-Home Order Largely Defeated in Anambra, Boasts Soludo’s Aide

The Special Adviser on Security to Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi (rtd.), has declared that the Monday sit-at-home order imposed by non-state actors in the South-East has been largely defeated in Anambra.

Chiobi made this known on Friday in Abuja during an interview with journalists on the sidelines of the National Summit on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism.

The summit, themed “The Evolving XLandscape of Violent Extremism: Emerging Issues in Niger and the Sahel”, was organised by the PCVE Knowledge, Innovation and Resource Hub in partnership with PAVE.

According to him, Anambra remains one of the safest states in the country as residents have increasingly regained the confidence to go about their normal activities on Mondays without fear of attack.

“No resident has been harmed in recent months for stepping out on Mondays. What is keeping some communities back is more about fear than the reality on the ground,” Chiobi said.

He further noted that the state government, under Governor Soludo, has invested heavily in security architecture, community engagement, and intelligence-sharing with security agencies to restore public confidence and dismantle the influence of violent groups enforcing illegal sit-at-home orders.

Chiobi stressed that the administration’s resolve is to completely end the culture of fear in the state and ensure that business and social activities flourish without hindrance.

While acknowledging that the psychological impact of past violence still lingers in some areas, he urged residents to take advantage of the improved security situation and fully return to their daily businesses, assuring them of the government’s continued commitment to their safety.
