Osun JUSUN Denies Report of Three-Day Warning Strike, Insists on Indefinite Action

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun State chapter, has denied reports suggesting that it had declared a three-day warning strike.

The union described such claims as false, misleading, and aimed at undermining its ongoing struggle for improved welfare and working conditions.

In a statement issued by its chairman, Comrade Idris Adedayo Adeniran, the union clarified that its industrial action remains indefinite and not limited to a short warning period, as some media outlets had reported.

According to him, “Our strike is open-ended until government addresses our demands. Any talk of a three-day warning strike is baseless and mischievous.”

The union’s demands include timely staff promotions, improved welfare packages, and better working conditions for judiciary personnel. It also accused relevant authorities of neglecting these concerns for years despite several appeals and negotiations.

Earlier reports had suggested that JUSUN in Osun declared a three-day warning strike over unpaid entitlements, statutory allowances dating back to 2015, and other benefits allegedly withheld by the government.

However, the union now insists that those reports do not reflect its official position.

JUSUN further announced a solidarity rally at the Osun State Judiciary headquarters, calling on members, lawyers, and stakeholders to join in pressing for justice and fairness for judiciary workers.

The ongoing strike has already disrupted court activities across the state, leaving litigants and legal practitioners stranded. With the union reaffirming that the strike is indefinite, there are growing concerns over prolonged delays in judicial processes unless urgent steps are taken by the state government and judiciary authorities to resolve the impasse.
