Lagos Building Collapse: Six Rescued, Probe Launched

A devastating two-storey building collapse occurred on Modupeola Street, Mangoro, in Lagos State’s Alimosho Local Government Area on Wednesday evening.

The incident, which happened around 6 pm, left one person trapped under the rubble, while five others were rescued without severe injuries.

According to Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) and other first responders quickly arrived at the scene and rescued the six individuals.

The trapped victim, a 44-year-old man from Alimosho, sustained fractures and bruises but was reported to be in stable condition after being admitted to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

The cause of the building collapse is yet to be determined, prompting government officials to launch an investigation into the incident.

This recent tragedy has reignited concerns about building safety and regulatory enforcement in Lagos, where frequent building collapses have resulted in loss of life and property.

In a similar incident just two weeks ago, four people lost their lives when a three-storey building collapsed at No. 325 Bornu Street, Ebute Meta.

These recurring incidents highlight the need for stricter building regulations and enforcement to prevent such disasters in the future.
