Malami Honours DSS Invitation Over Kebbi Convoy Attack
Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has confirmed that he honoured an invitation by the Department of State Services (DSS) in connection with the recent attack on his convoy in Kebbi State.
Malami, who served as Nigeria’s chief law officer between 2015 and 2023, disclosed this in a statement posted on his personal social media handle on Monday.
He said the invitation was part of investigations into the September 1, 2025, assault on his convoy, during which his security team repelled unidentified attackers.
“I can confirm that I have been invited by the Department of State Services to support investigation over the attack on my person and convoy in Kebbi State on the 1st of September, 2025,” Malami stated.
He further explained that the development followed petitions submitted to the DSS, including one he personally filed over alleged threats to his life.
The former Justice Minister added that he was cooperating fully with security agencies to ensure that those behind the incident are brought to justice.
The Kebbi convoy attack sparked widespread concerns earlier this month, with calls from political associates and civil society groups urging security agencies to intensify efforts to uncover the perpetrators.
As at press time, the DSS has not issued an official statement on the outcome of Malami’s meeting with its operatives.
